Siân Cross is a singer/songwriter from the West Country with a hauntingly mind-blowing voice. Currently working on her most ambitious project to date: ‘Allone’ is a multimedia venture combining Siân’s love of music and her fascination with the human mind. She has set out to push the capacity of musics ability to be used as a form of therapy, a tool to move through trauma and explore the inner workings of our souls.
Previous works: ‘Conscious’ and ‘Catalyst’ explored the power of storytelling and connection. “I chose 10 deeply moving true accounts from around the globe of traumas of all kinds; From child abuse to Alzheimer’s and many more; meeting with each of the heroins in person to hear their account. I then, with their permission, told their stories through music. I witnessed the endless capacity of music’s ability to reach into peoples hearts and bring out truth [“I didn’t realise I had not yet grieved for my mother whom I lost 22 years ago and your song allowed me to do just that.]”.
Cross’ debut 2016 release, TELL ANYBODY, was received with critical acclaim and made TRACK OF THE DAY by CLASH MAGAZINE who also premiered the music video. TELL ANYBODY has been championed by a number of regional stations including BBC RADIO LONDON, BBC RADIO CAMBRIDGE, BBC RADIO BRISTOL, BBC 3 COUNTIES, BBC SOLENT and BBC RADIO ESSEX. This buzz continued to grow following Sian’s double A Side release of ON AND ON | STARE AT ME with increased regional radio support alongside Siân making an appearance on BBC 3 COUNTIES breakfast show for CHILDREN IN NEED as well as achieving national plays and support from BBC 6 MUSIC’S TOM ROBINSON, BBC RADIO 2’s PAUL SEXTON and ABSOLUTE RADIO’s FRANK SKINNER. STARE AT ME was also play-listed by TOPSHOP | TOPMAN and could be heard in all Irish and UK stores up and down the country. During what was a very exciting 2016-18, Siân signed a publishing deal with MOTOR SCOUT MUSIC and received a sync with NETFLIX original INSATIABLE for her single GAVE AWAY. She headlined the ALTERNATIVE ESCAPE at THE GREAT ESCPAE FESTIVAL and toured the UK joining the BBC NAKED CHOIR winners; SONS OF PITCHES, MISHKA SHUBALY, 80s pop legends PAUL CARRACK and CHINA CRISIS, MERCURY PRIZE nominated BARRY ADAMSON, LISBEE STAINTON and EMMA STEVENS on their EUROPEAN TOURS. With multiple festival appearances including the BBC INTRODUCING stage at STANDON CALLING, CHILL AT THE MILL, and NEWKIND FESTIVAL in TASMANIA.
In 2019 Siân took some time out to be with her family in Somerset as they dealt with the heart breaking news that her youngest Nephew Milo has a rare disease Metachromatic Leukodystrophy [MLD] which will eventually take his life. During what has been a very tough year for them all and continues to challenge them daily: “Seeing Milo respond to music and sound in the way that he does despite having lost all of his speech and mobility has given me the drive to make music again. Music has the power to heal and I want to take that knowledge and intentionally create music for its most vital purpose in our lives.” ‘Allone’ will combine scientific research on sound and the mind with my newest adventures with the MI.MU Gloves [“The worlds most advanced wearable musical instrument] and - VoiceSign [The worlds first global sign system created for the Hearing Nonverbal]. I am using these tools to explore both my own reality and the one that surrounds us all; our connection to everything. I am building a framework for exploring the self and each other through music and sound.
